Helping Hands: A Lovely Little Evening in Support of the DEWC
I co-produced a charity event benefitting the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre called Helping Hands. The idea behind this event was to pool the resources of Vancouver based businesses and artists to create an evening of music, art, and socializing that would positively affect the community. The Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre provides shelter, basic resources, and community programming to seniors, women, and children in Vancouver’s DTES. The event utilized donations from the businesses in the form of silent auction items, an art auction was also held, breweries from the area donated beverages for the bar, the Remington Gallery and Studio provided the space, and four DJs spun records throughout the night to keep everybody dancing. This generosity meant that almost all of the proceeds from the event could go to the intended organization. I named the event, wrote all associated copy for social media, and did the graphic design for the posters, event page, handbills, and branded auction sheets. In the end over 20 businesses donated services and goods, 12 artists donated works, the bar had 3 beverage sponsors, and $2,230 was raised

Stop The Press: BeatRoute Magazine 5Yr Anniversary
I co-produced BeatRoute Magazine’s five year anniversary mini festival Stop The Press. This event saw over 500 people in attendance, and was a three day celebration of the arts and culture magazine’s fifth year in publication. Bands like United Nations, Viet Cong and many more performed at an all ages venue as part of the celebration, a retrospective art show was also held with blown up versions of the magazine’s covers and commemorative newspaper boxes designed by local artists on display. I helped conceptualize the event, lead the social media campaign on behalf of the magazine, helped put up and tear down the shows, and was available for on-floor assistance during the festival.
